Third Annual Next Magazine Photo Contest: Open Call To Artists

Enter your images of gay life in 2012 for a chance to be featured in the pages of Next Magazine!

ABOUT THE NEXT MAGAZINE PHOTO CONTEST:

Our yearly competition celebrates the unique perspective gays bring to their world and invites photographers—both amateur and professional—to submit their work for a chance to be featured in a special traveling gallery show that premieres during New York Gay Pride week at the Leslie/Lohman Museum of Gay and Lesbian Art in Soho.

Artists are challenged to define gay life in America in 2012. Next is urging artists to think beyond rainbow flags and men in drag to get to the core of what being queer means in this age of change.

Entries may now be submitted form below. The contest will accept open submissions through noon on May 30 per website guidelines. At that time our panel of judges will select the 10 best images for the gallery show. Those 10 images will also appear on Next Magazine's Facebook page where readers will be able to vote for their favorite image. The image with the most Likes will be crowned the Grand Prize winner and win a category HH stateroom on the 2013 RSVP Mardi Gras Cruise, sailing February 9-16 from Ft. Lauderdale to Key West, New Orleans (for Fat Tuesday), and Half Moon Cay (private island) in the Bahamas. Total value of the prize $2398 ($1199 per person). By accepting the prize, winner agrees to cover the cost of port fees ($205 per person) and gratuities onboard ($80.50 per person).

The 10 judge-selected images will then appear in Next Magazine's Gay Pride Issue on June 22 and debut at the Leslie/Lohman Museum of Gay and Lesbian Art at a special reception on June 19 before moving to a gallery show at Posh in Hell's Kitchen in July. 

Submission Guidelines

• Each file submitted should be 1MB/300dpi or larger.
• Your file must be a: JPG, TIF or PDF.
• Maximum of five (5) photographs per contestant. Only the first five (5) submissions will be considered.
• 100 word max description of the images and the artist. If chosen as a finalist, this description will run with the image. Correct grammar and spelling are appreciated.
• Email, phone number, age and address are all required for submissions.
• We will not consider incomplete submissions or photos that have previously appeared in print, online or in a gallery.
• Submission via zipped folders will be immediately rejected.

Entrant agrees to display their image in Next Magazine and the accompanying gallery show(s) should they be selected. Entrant's photos are the responsibility of the submitter who expressly indemnifies Next Magazine and its affiliates against claims for any unauthorized use thereof. In conjunction with this indemnity, the submitter expressly warrants that use of any photos submitted is fully authorized by the subject(s) and photographer.

Entrant's personal information (name, age, address, profession) will be kept secret from the judging panel and will have no effect on the finalists or the grand prize winner.
