By the end, everyone was reminded that we all have an ass and we can all stand to shake it from time to time.

The New Orleans queen diva simply known as Big Freedia rolled through Brooklyn last night for a performance at one of our increasingly favorite live music venues, Brooklyn Bowl. Though a few tickets remained at the door, the midnight concert appeared almost entirely sold out by the time Freedia took to the stage at 1am.

Freedia's brand of sissy bounce music, an energetic blend of Miami booty bass and relentless driving beats that sound closest to hard house, has earned him a loyal following of booty-shaking enthusiasts. Surprisingly, the majority of these fans in attendance were neither queer nor black like the queen diva himself but that did not stop a single person from dancing, shaking and bending over to heed Freedia's call at one point for "Ass Everywhere," one of Freedia's biggest anthems.

Throughout the night, Freedia invited his own rump-shaking dance crew out onto the stage as well as members of the audience, both male and female, large and small, gay and straight, to join him. By the end, everyone was reminded that we all have an ass and we can all stand to shake it from time to time.
