Fire Island Pines Ventures announces that the Pavilion Nightclub will not be ready to open for Memorial Day Weekend
(The Pavilion two weeks ago)
Fire Island Pines announced today that the eagerly anticipated new Pavilion Nightclub—which burned to the ground in November, 2011—will not be opening this Memorial Day Weekend as had previously been planned. The holiday weekend was supposed to serve as a grand re-opening party for the new HWKN-designed nightclub with big name DJs like Phil B, Michael Fierman and John Ceglia spinning on Friday, Tony Moran and Edie Elias on Saturday and Escape and Sin Morera on Sunday. The weekend's events will now be taking place at the Pool Deck and the Blue Whale, next door to the still-under-construction nightclub.
“It is with great disappointment that we must announce the newly rebuilt Pavilion nightclub in the Pines will not be ready to open this weekend, as we had previously hoped. The rebuilding of this iconic nightclub was a tremendous undertaking which has almost fully come to fruition," said FIP Ventures' Matthew Blesso. "Our patron’s safety is our top priority, and we will not open the doors until we are certain the club is 100% ready to go. Although people will need to wait a little bit longer to see it come alive, we are excited for the moment we can share it with you all. We promise you will not be disappointed! We will keep you posted on the details of the opening date, which will not be far ahead.”
The company is now hoping to open the new Pavilion the following week, pending approval from the town.
