Mr. Mamma Mia, Andrew Chappelle, Won This Year's Broadway Beauty Pageant By Doing His Comedy Act in Heels
(Tonya Pinkins, Michael Musto and Jackie Hoffman at Symphony Space)
Last night, the Ali Forney Center held it's six annual Broadway Beauty Pageant at Symphony Space, which pit chorus boys against each other for the coveted title and crown—not to mention helping AFC raise funds for its LGBT homeless youth shelters and services. Mr. Mamma Mia, Andrew Chappelle, who bragged to us earlier about auditioning for the new In Living Color, won over judges Jackie Hoffman, Michael Musto and Tonya Pinkins with his stand-up comedy routine to take the top prize over fellow contestants Wilkie Ferguson, Corey Mach, Jesse Swimm and Anthony Wayne. But Chappelle wasn't the night only highlight. Previous Broadway Beauty Pageant winners Frankie James Grande, Michael Cusumano and Anthony Hollock returned to the stage for a medley of their own. Luckily, staff photographer Gustavo Monroy got the whole thing on video.
