Eager to hear the Scissor Sisters’ new album? Well maybe you should have been at Eastern Bloc last Wednesday night. We hear DJ Sammy Jo—the band’s tour DJ—was Josh Sparber’s special guest at Good Times, and that he treated the crowd to sneak previews of never before heard tracks from the upcoming album.
 
Out of the Mix
It hasn’t been a great week for Mix Cafe and Lounge. The Astoria gay bar was shut down this weekend by the city’s Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. Apparently Mix was operating without the proper permits. A notice posted outside the bar from its staff claims Mix will reopen soon, and that patrons should check the bar’s Facebook page for updates. But as of today, Mix is still shuttered.
 
Breaking the Contract?
Which infamously hotheaded Hell’s Kitchen bar owner apparently forbids his party promoters from working at other venues? But we hear at least one of his promoters has signed on as a silent partner for a twink-centric party at newly opened mega club XL. Of course, we’re not exactly sure how effectively you can promote a party as a silent partner, but…
