Will the Real Brandon Voss Please Stand Up? // Cherry Grove's Ice Palace is Hiring // Whitney Day Gets Engaged

(Brandon L Voss and Brandon Voss)

Who’s the Voss
With the opening of XL Nightclub last week, Advocate contributor and former HX editor Brandon Voss wants to remind people that he’s not the same Brandon Voss who runs the club’s parties and promotion. It’s a mistake people have been making for years, as evidenced by this La Daily Musto blog post from 2010. But with the highly anticipated new club’s launch, Voss—the writer—was suddenly inundated with guest list requests, and by the XL’s third night, complaints about the venue’s door policy. We wonder if the other Brandon L. Voss—of FornabaioVoss—ever gets offers of writing gigs? Of course not everyone needed to badger friends for a spot on XL's opening weekend guest lists. Gay celebs during the weekend's mobbed events included Andy Cohen and Jake Shears and even—presumably—hetero singer, Aaron Carter.

New Beginning in the Pines
The spot where The Pavilion and Sip N’ Twirl once stood in The Pines is primed and ready for a reboot! Bob Howard of Fire Island’s Bob Howard Real Estate posted this video of the building’s demolition, taken Saturday morning from the ferry arriving in Pines Harbor. It’s a bittersweet thing to see: on the one hand a lot of happy memories are gone; on the other, that flattened lot means that the affected businesses are one step closer to rebuilding.

Staffing the Palace
Meanwhile, in Cherry Grove, The Ice Palace and Grove Hotel are already starting the 2012 season’s hiring process. A cheeky “Help Wanted” flyer on its Facebook page indicates that the hotel/club complex is currently looking for hotel/housekeeping staff, cocktail waiters, bartenders and lifeguards. We also hear that, in addition to his infamous Friday night DWorld underwear party and his Saturday afternoon pool party at his “Home for Wayward Boys,” Daniel Nardicio is launching a Saturday night soiree at The Ice Palace this summer. With all this Fire Island news, we guess it’s time to start working on our beach bods.

Happy Day
Congratulations to Next Magazine Who's Next 2012 DJ Whitney Day. The producer and music stylist who has spun at some of the city’s hottest parties—Rockit, Club 57, Shark—recently got engaged to her girlfriend, Hillary Fortin. We wish the ladies all the best!

Leave Misty Alone!
Misty Meaner has had it up to here with gay gossip. But rather than succumbing to a “Leave Misty Alone!” Chris Crocker-style moment, the Going Viral (Vlada Wednesdays) and Spunknik (EasternBloc Tuesdays) host is so fed up that she’s thinking of launching her own gossip column to set the record straight. We’d read that. (And probably report on it, too!)
