As kitchen-ready trucks dole out everything from falafel to Belgian wafels across the city these days, why shouldn’t the freewheeling fare include some frosty treats? We’ve included a few motorized vehicles below that will please your palate while keeping you cool.

With eco-friendly packaging and using only the freshest cream, milk and eggs, their confections include standards such as Vanilla, Chocolate, Pistachio and Coffee but also trip the flavor fantastic with Ginger, Giandujia and Red Currant. If you can’t track down the truck, pick up a pint at your local Whole Foods.
 
Perhaps the only thing better than a big gay man is the Big Gay Ice Cream Truck (BigGayIceCreamTruck.com). Get your scoop on with wild toppings such as wasabi pea dust, olive oil and sea salt, or crushed Nilla Wafers for the less adventurous. Dare to try the Choinkwich? Still truckin’ since the more innocent days of 1956 (!), the lilting jingle that floats over our neighborhoods has a Proustian/Pavlovian effect on just about everybody. Bomb Pops, Strawberry Shortcake Bars and heavenly swirls of soft ice cream laced with butterscotch make for a sweet transport all the way back to childhood.
