Get in touch with your inner sommelier! The highly fashionable South Gate restaurant recently uncorked several flights of wireless iPad wine tablets, featuring the custom-designed SmartCellar application drawn up by the New York-based company Incentient. The cunning little contraption (it only weighs 1.5 pounds!) lets customers traipse through the excellent restaurant’s extensive wine list of over 650 bottles.

Featuring iPad’s interactive, high-definition color touch screen, SmartCellar not only tells patrons everything they ever wanted to know about the major wine regions and varietals, but also keeps them updated when a particular wine of interest has run dry at South Gate, thus alerting them to select another bottle. We wonder what will they drink, er, think of next? But don’t be intimidated by such technology—the app is detailed enough for the most arduous oenophiles and easy enough for the casual diner to manipulate as well. We’ll drink to that!
