    There’s no doubt that you won’t mention going to Fire Island without some weisenheimer making a half-baked joke about the Meat Rack. This wooded glen between the barrier island’s two gayest neighborhoods—the Pines and Cherry Grove—has such a reputation because it’s a well-known ground for gay cruising, public sex and just about every sort of misbehavior that occurs when you get a bunch of homosexuals together on the edge of the world, add booze and sun exposure, and stir.
