(The halycon days of mr.Black)

BLACK OUT
While we’re all still waiting for the next incarnation of mr.Black, the naughty dance den’s founder Stuart Black is collaborating with Doojee NYC for a one-night-only affair. The Dirty Crew Sessions sees mixmaster DJs Dirt Crew and Todd Bodine, Holmar Filipsson, Alexander Technique, Nita and Miss Honey Dijon invading Love on MacDougal Street on March 13. Stuart promises us the party will have that dark sexual energy that permeated his original venue. He also tells us mr.Black L.A. is still going strong, and there’s even plans for Boston and Miami branchs in April. Say hi to the kids at Vlada Miami, Stu!

AWARDS SEASON

Speaking of Vlada, we were on the exercise bike this morning skimming through New York magazine’s Best of NYC issue, when we read that the Hell’s Kitchen gay bar was named the best place for vodka in the city.  Well, we’ve certainly downed enough of the infused stuff there to knock out a Siberian caribou! A hearty “nazdarovya!” to our friend Vlada von Shats.

TWISTED SHOUT

In even more Vlada news, Charles Winters tells us Twisted, the party he, Demanda Dahling and King Ralphy ran there for the past few months, is over.  Actually Twisted was going to have its last hurrah tonight at Elevate, but it was cancelled. Word is Winters and company will be starting a regular Trashed Tuesday party at the Eighth Avenue club if all goes well. It’s like our Russian grandma always said, "When God closes one bottle of vodka, he opens another!"

STRIKE OUT!

Fire Island favorite VJ TonyBuilt has been having a little trouble getting his gay party Score started at Lucky Strike Lanes on 42nd Street. The bowlin’-and-boozin’ bash was supposed to kick off Sunday, February 28, but the managers accidentally double-booked and Tony got pushed back to March 14. Well Tony didn’t pick up the spare—he’s been forced to move the party again, to this coming Monday night, March 15. It’s still 7pm to midnight, and its still all you can bowl for $20, though.  “I actually have confirmation  in writing this time…” Tony e-mailed us this morning. “So no more changes.” If we hadn’t been to Lee Chappell’s Gutterball party at Lucky Strikes back in September, we’d think the alley had a problem with the gays.

TAKIN’ IT TO THE STREET

Most definitely having a problem with gay nightlife is the New York City police department. Christopher Street TV’s Dwight O’Neal informed us that Chi-Chiz, the predominantly black West Village watering hole where scenes from Finding Me and Ski Trip were shot, is in danger of closing permanently. It was shuttered one night recently after cops discovered drugs on the premises, but was back open for business the next day. A hearing to determine the bar’s fate is being held tomorrow, March 10, at 9:30am at 60 Centre Street in Room 315. "A few of my colleagues …have said [things like]  ‘drugs are sold there,’ ‘the people are too hood,’ and ‘I am glad they’re closing,” O’Neal wrote in an e-mail. “My response is [that] those same activities happen in almost every New York City establishment and it’s not the owners fault. Lets come together to offer solutions.” So set your alarm early and let your voice be heard!
