He's now starring alongside Lady Bunny and Tina McKissick in When Joey Married Bobby, which just moved to the Times Square Arts Center. But before he trod the boards, Matt Pender was a pitcher for the Detroit Tigers. “Being on the pitcher’s mound in front of thousands of people is oddly similar to being on stage,” he says. “You draw off of what the crowd feeds you. And Detroit has the Tiger as its mascot—we have Bunny.”
