SCENE + HEARD: Daniel Nardicio Says the Success of The Snow Ball Means He'll Throw A Monthly Party At The House Of Yes

To paraphrase Jane Austen (in a nightlife write-up, no less): It is a truth universally acknowledged that New York gays rarely go out of their way for a party. If it’s not within their Chelsea-Hell’s Kitchen-East Village stomping ground, well, who knows whether anyone will show up. And if the venue is further out in Brooklyn that the L train’s Bedford stop, you can forget about it! Of course, there are exceptions: the Spank parties, most notably. And after this past Friday night, we think it’s safe to add Daniel Nardicio’s new monthly parties at the House of Yes to that list.

The boys came out in droves to the Bushwick performance space, transformed for the night into a winter wonderland for Nardicio’s signature holiday dance party, The Snow Ball. Typically Manhattan-bound queens like Bianca Del Rio and Acid Betty mixed and mingled with Brooklyn boys as fake snow swirled on the dance floor. Go-gos Rowan Pierce, Shane Riccardi and the very flexible Suki shook it while performer Moisty The Snowman preened and posed high above the stage. We caught aerial acts and fire-eaters and stripper pole acrobatics throughout the night, while catching up with pals we hadn’t seen since before the holidays. We got big kisses from doorwoman Robbyne Kaamil while Next Magazine contributor and former go-go star Matt Bell was slinging drinks and showing off that famous bod of his. Tranimal Jimmie Sprinkles and a dressed down Epiphany made an appearance. Host—and Nardicio's boyfriend—Go-Go Harder also made the rounds, catching up with most of the first graduating class of his recent Intro to Boylesk course, newly minted strip stars Chris Mess, Johnny Panic and Flesh Gordon. Meanwhile, the dance floor was never not slammed, as Johnny Dynell’s legendary DJ skills keeping the guys moving—ankle-deep in white confetti—all night long.

We were a bit surprised by the number of people who mentioned the fact that this was their first time at House of Yes considering the number of events and performances that have been heating up the space in the past year. Go-Go Harder’s boylesque course and Meat Machine revue for one, and The Saint at Large’s Caligula. But we guess that’s a testament to Nardicio’s ability to draw a diverse crowd out to Bushwick.
