SCENE + HEARD: Rockers Rejoice: QxBxRx Brings Queer Punk To Cake Shop

We weaved through the LES Rivington Street traffic Saturday night to get to the Cake Shop for queer rock party QxBxRx where rocker go-go boys gyrated to the Ruffian Arms. Host A Martini described the band as a “fun, awesome, theatrical, Brooklyn, art punk band.” They had the whole audience hopping by the middle of their first song. “Also we have Hands and Knees who are down from Boston and the Kezners (see video below),” said Martini.
 
The successful party had a great mixed crowd of not only gay party-goers but people from the upstairs bar who trickled down to hear the bands play. “The response has been great, we have a really great turnout. We’re always pretty happy and book any band that is even interested in the party at all regardless of being queer or not queer—as long as they like to bring a fun party!” said Martini.
 
Also on hand to spin retro punk tracks and rock classics were hosts DJs Go Kraff and Sir Loins.

“We’ve already had a lot of bands that we love over the last couple of years like Von Iva” said Martini. “There are only so many queer punk and queer rock bands in the whole country or world for that matter.”
