DMFAOver?
We’ve danced our asses off a few times at Mark Nelson and Michael Formika Jones’ midtown party DMFAO, but those days may be long gone. We hear the party-promoting duo that originated the long-running The F Word is putting their latest venture on hiatus after just five weeks.
The D.C.-based owners of the Eighth Avenue boutique announced this week that they’ve signed a long-term lease with Modern Realty for a new Hell’s Kitchen space.>>> continue reading »

Every year, Joey Arias and Sherry Vine reunite to celebrate the celebrated ’90s West Village drag haunt, Bar d’O. For the seventh annual edition, held last Sunday at Noho’s Indochine, the drag legends took to the stage with guests like Flotilla DeBarge and Sade Pendarvis for memories, jokes and, of course, some big belt-y numbers. Check it out the video after the jump.>>>

(Lady Rizo @ the Griffin)
Last night the gays took over the Griffin, deep in the heart of the heterocentric Meatpacking District for Lee Chappell's revived cabaret show, Café Panache. As we ogled preppy boys in their tight summer shorts and dandies with boater hats and bow ties, the Belle Epoque club looked like a scene from Woody Allen's latest flick—only instead of can-can girls, there were Vegas showgirls with huge... headresses. Accompanied by a six-piece band, performers like soulful singer Richard Wait, drag legend Sherry Vine, contortionist Christopher Bousquet and burlesque princess Miz Margo entranced the crowds from their roosts above the comfy banquettes. After crawling over an inebriated businessmen, Lady Rizo quipped, "when you woke up this morning you didn't think you'd have pussy in your face." (We certainly didn't!) Once on stage, Rizo electrified the crowd with her wailing rendition of "Take Another Little Piece of My Heart," almost making us forget Janis Joplin. Tearing up roses and tossing the petals at the audience, Riz segued into a lively mashup of "Toxic" and "Personal Jesus." She won some new fans when she wrapped herl set with a bouncy rendition of "99 Luft Balloons" and got the entire room dancing with their hands in the air.

(Sherry Vine and her back-up boy @ Barracuda)
In case you haven't heard her yelling it from the rooftops, it's Sherry Vine's birthday this week. So we skipped over to Barracuda on Sunday for one of Vine's many birthday parties over the next few days. This one was hosted by Michael Formika Jones, who tells us, "I have known Sherry Vine for over 100 years. I'm here cause she turned me—she is my maker.. You know she's a vampire, right?" That explains why we've only seen them out at night! Some of Sherry's best friends performed and covered her pop paordies. (Our personal favorite,"Bump," was performed by Eve Starr.)

(David Albierio & Sherry Vin @ Vig 27)
No one celebrates birthdays like nightlife folks do—in fact they seem to have several a year without getting any older! Saturday night was no exception, as a host of homos descended on Vig 27 to party with owner David Albiero and drag superstar Sherry Vine, who teamed up to celebrate another year on planet Earth together. The birthday queens arrived (relatively) on time to a flurry of air kisses and handshakes—Vine’s glossy lips were pinker than usual while Albiero decided on a glitterly decoration along the right side of his face.
DJ Pony , who normally hosts Saturday's Love party at the Murray Hill club, graciously spun the crowd into a frenzy. Known for her pop-song parodies, Vine was welcomed from the DJ booth with a panoply of Lady Gaga hits. In fact “Born This Way” started a dance-off between the Vig go-gos and resident queen Pixie Aventura, who later performed a Xanadu-inspired number for the birthday kids—perhaps a nod to Albiero's Australian roots?—which was followed by Gaga’s “Telephone” by birthday girl Vine and gal pal Epiphany.

(Nick Gruber and Calvin Klein)
DANNY BOY
Oh Daniel Nardicio, what a wealth of gossip you provide! Granted, it all involves naked photos—or thwarted plans for naked photos—but who minds that? This week the party promoter and Playgirl marketing director spilled a couple of stories to The Village Voice’s Michael Musto. First came news that a certain A-List New York cast member had personally sent naked pics to Nardicio, hoping to score a photo shoot in Playgirl. (We wonder which of those boys is narcissistic and fame-hungry enough—and well-endowed enough—to pull off that kind of stunt?) Then yesterday DN delivered a juicy tidbit about one of Musto’s very favorite people: Calvin Klein boytoy Nick Gruber. Apparently, the skin-mag maven had been in talks with Gruber to do a cover shoot, but became so frustrated with the 21-year-old former porn star’s flakiness that he put the kibosh on those plans. The pair proceeded to quarrel via text message, with Nardicio insisting that in three years Gruber would be “just another bottle blond looking for work,” and Gruber threatening, “I am famous now and people want me for my fame. You should be careful ’cause of the people I know and what they could do to you.”

(Sherry Vine and Formika @ Industry)
If all of gay Hell's Kitchen wasn't at Industry last night, it sure felt like it. After a few delays, the spacious new club officially opened its doors on Tuesday with a big bash that was packed to the rafters with gay boys, straight gal pals and drag queens. (Our date must've pointed out every single guy he's ever chatted with on Grindr.)

"Life is a cabaret"— or at least it was according to the mammoth sign draped across a doorway at Vig 27 Monday night. Murray Hill's gay watering hole may not have a full cabaret license, but its extensive list of weekly events suggest it's fully prepared for whatever debauchery East Side queens can muster.

(Chad, Sherry Vine and Justin @ Vig 27)
It’s hard to believe it’s already been a year since Vig 27 opened its doors to NYC’s pansexual population, but this weekend, the Murray Hill boite celebrated its first anniversary in style. We were on hand for Friday night’s special anniversary edition of East of Eden, where DJ Executive Realness and hosts Epiphany and Austin Helms were joined by a Who’s Who of Vig’s weekly talent. Misty Meaner and Go-Go Harder of Thursday nights’ Meaner Harder Leather gave us a taste of their talent while their co-hostess Stormy Leather recorded a special video message from Rome. Songstress Brittany Campbell also made a return to East of Eden to wish the Vig crew a happy birthday. With so many members of the Vig 27 family in one spot, we decided to ask around and find out everyone’s favorite moment from the past year at Vig.
“Trying to cool off in the walk-in freezer and having a member of the kitchen staff walk into the freezer, turn around and lock the door behind him, with me just locked in!” —Epiphany, host of Friday night’s East of Eden
