Jonathan Groff’s New Leading Man?
Spotted at Hell’s Kitchen gay fave Ariba Ariba: Jonathan Groff looking kinda romantic with How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying star Christopher J. Hanke.
The show’s publicist, tells us the show had been vandalized the night before, with costumes ruined and sound files destroyed.>>>
(Jeff Little Horse)
HORSE SENSE
Lifestylist Jeff Little Horse made quite a splash at last week’s "Gaga vs. Britney" party at Campus Thursdays. The gender-bending party boy became incensed when some drunk dude yanked off the beaded pleather eyepatch glued to his face. It seemed like an actual gay bar brawl was brewing until friends managed to diffuse the situation. But Little Horse was determined to have the last laugh, pouring his vodka cranberry all over the beastly boy before storming out of Splash in righteous indignation.
OUT OF TOUCH
In case you didn't hear, the West 52nd Street nightclub Touch recently lost their liquor license and shut down (at least for the time being). That put at least two gay parties in jeopardy: Kevin Wiltz and Michael Cohen (Cove, Summer Camp) have pulled the plug (again, for now) on Utopia, their regular Friday-night event at the club, while Sholay Events had to quickly scramble to find a new location for this Saturday's Desilicious party for South Asian queers and their friends. No worries on that front, though—The Bollywood bash has been relocated to the equally fabulous Pachita, upstairs at Pacha.

We don't know what kind of fuckery the weather has been pulling lately—mild and nice one day, colder-than-evah the next. But even if the East River freezes over tonight, we'll skate over to the Fashion 26 hotel for Chris Ryan and Fed Velazquez’ hot new party, Image. We were there last week, when photographers created a strobing lighting story as Brandon Ryan from So You Think You Can Dance and other pretty young things posed in front of the rooftop soiree's sumptuous skyline view. continue reading »
(Jackson Dee & DJ Xavier @ The Ritz)
Once the work day ended on Pride Friday, 46th Street turned into the gay version of Bourbon Street during Mardi Gras. The eye of the hurricane was the Ritz, where Chris Ryan was hosting a special Pride edition of his popular Flex party with DJs Xavier (on the main floor) and Eddie Baez (upstairs). If you somehow didn't know where the party was at, a massive rainbow banner and balloon arch pointed the way like a gay Star of Bethelem. Don't believe us? Just check out the photographic evidence. —Juan Pawiroredjo

(Rich King, Chaka Khanvict & Michael T @ 390 8th Avenue)
We had caught wind that Elevate was purchased by Ricky Mercado, who's hoping to “gay it up” a bit. He's off to a good start—joining Uncut Fridays and Trashed Tuesdays at the Hellsea spot (tentatively renamed 390 Eighth Avenue) is the new Saturday-night mega-party Crisis on Eighth Avenue, produced by a smorgasbord of New York nightlifers. “Saturday nights have become a dumbed-down and dying situation in New York,” one of those party gods, Rich King, told us. “We decided to play off of that, calling it a 'crisis,' but one that's fixable, which is why we’re all stepping up." Joining the mustachioed mixmaster are Daniel Nardicio, Paul Short, Michael T, Cynthia Powell and Chris Ryan. "We feel like We Are The World, stepping up to lend a hand to nightlife,” King joshed.
Disco beats flowed from Michael T’s booth that night as a crowd mixed and mingled with some recognizable faces as well as some new drag characters we'd never laid eyes on before. “I think there are a lot of wide-eyed people looking around like ‘Woah, where did these people come from?’," King explained of the eclectic crowd. "And [they're] surprised that this kind of effort is still going on. People have really turned themselves out for this tonight. It’s exciting!”
We’ve seen this kind of mass-promoter collaboration go down in flames in the recent past (like Tight at Amnesia), but the overall chill crowd made it seem that this Crisis is here to stay –Christopher Dilley
(Mike Dreyden & Sherry Vine @ Amnesia)
One of nightlife's newest offerings, Tight, blew on to the scene last night with an myriad of hosts and DJs covering every demographic of gay nightlife. Hosted in the spacious and gorgeous new West Side spot Amnesia, hosts such as Chris Ryan, Dina Marie, King Ralphy, Jane Lane, Yuhua Hamasaki and Mike Dreyden crowded around the plush circular booths adorned with a hot go-go each dancing to the electro tracks of Sammy Jo and Ricardo.

CLUB CONTROL: Gays want to dance again; at least you’d think that when talking with Ricardo Torres Ortiz, a.k.a. DJ Ricardo, about his new party, Tight, held at the newly opened Chelsea clubland hot spot Amnesia (where Sol use to be). We chatted with Ricardo, who helped start Kurfew events at Tunnel back in 1997 and more recently mixed and produced Out Anthems 1–4, about his exciting new party and why he thinks it’s worth trekking out in the cold for. “It’s been overwhelming, the support I’ve gotten from the gay community” said Tabatha Coffey of Bravo’s Tabatha’s Salon Takeover at last night’s Campus Thursdays at Splash. Strong, enigmatic women of character and conviction can have one of two reactions from gay men: fear or exalted praise. “It has been nothing but love,” continued Coffey confirming that she has experienced the latter. The savvy business owner and out lesbian was at Splash to meet and greet fans including what many have pointed out as her male twin: promoter Myk’l Cummins.
