ONLINE EXCLUSIVE: Eric von Kuersteiner Opens Up About Selling the Pines Resort

Rumors have been circulating for months and now it’s official: Pines Commercial Properties owner Eric von Kuersteine has sold the Fire Island Pines Resort to FIP Ventures, a new corporation comprised of hotelier Andrew Kirtzman, 48, real-estate investor Matt Blesso, 36, and banker Seth Weissman, 26. Most of the commercial property in the gay mecca is included on the bill of sale, including the Blue Whale, Hotel Ciel, the Pines Liquor Store and ownership of the harbor front and dock. We chatted with von Kuersteiner, who’s been coming to the Pines for 20 years and purchased the properties back in 2004, about what prompted the sale and what he hopes his legacy will be.
