Thursday nights at Bar 13 are back, courtesy of Michael Formika Jones, Lee Chappell and DJ Van Scott and their new weekly party, F.U.—which we're told stands for "Freedom University" in keeping with the club's NYU environs. But this wasn’t exactly the twink-tastic scene you may recall from the days of Pop Rocks. The crowd was actually a refreshingly diverse lot. “This is, like, the perfect mix of twinks, drag queens and daddies!” said Lonni Bahls, former lead singer of the now-totally-defunct Whore’s Mascara. Throw in some suit-and-tie types too. There was even a decent female contingent, a nice surprise for Hanson’s straight bandmate, Electronathan.

Last night, Stonewall Quarter Share, the young professional arm of The Stonewall Community Foundation, threw its first Pointe 25 fundraiser last night at Bar 13.
Having been recruited at the LGBT non-profit's February gathering, we were able to see the fruits of our philanthropic labors put to action. More than 160 members of the Quarter Share program voted to grant their pooled dues to the Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund, which “aims to help counteract the discrimination, prejudice and violence most in the trans community face on a regular basis,” as executive director Bill McDermott clued us in.
