Wam-Bam Thank You, Pam
The world’s only female gay porn director—at least as far as we know—has quit her long-time gig with Lucas Entertainment. Rumor has it Mr. Pam has left the New York based porno studio and is moving to San Francisco.
We got a characteristically cryptic email...announcing the New York launch of “L.A.’s biggest Saturday night gay party.">>>
(Roze Black & One Half Nelson @ Amnesia)
At Friday's F Word one might have thought they stepped back in time—and into mr.Black—as DJ Nita spun a Tubway style party, Black To The Future, inside Mickael Formika Jones and Mark Nelson's new night. Originally a staple of mr.Black's Saturday night, “Black To The Future was a baby of ours,” said door gal and promoter Roze Black when we bumped into her at Sunday's Tighht at Amnesia. “It was probably one of the most successful parties that [mr.Black] did. There was a high demand for it so we didn’t see a reason why we couldn’t do it even though mr.Black was currently on hiatus,” she said at the new west side spot.
“We got together and said that it wasn’t going to be Tubway, but instead a subsidiary of Tubway and then subsequently took it on tour. We have done parties in Washington D.C and we’re doing something soon in Boston,” said Roze of bringing the party under the mr.Black name on tour.
“The response on Friday night was amazing. The décor was delicious and the DJ booth was set up like a real arcade machine with a joystick and all. On the ceiling we painted Space Invaders in neon for the black-light and it all looked so major. We also had a performance by En Subtitles which consists of Clifton Brown, One Half Nelson and Erikatour Aviance,” said Roze excitedly. “We have to start doing it monthly because we had an amazing turnout and a great response. It was our busiest night so far and I only heard good things back about it!” —Christopher Dilley
While at Kenny Kenny and Susanne Bartsch’s Tuesday night lounge, Bonbon, we caught up with Ladyfag who gave us her feelings on the sudden closing of mr.Black’s New York location:
“I’m so close to my mr.Black family. They left a hole in New York but look at us here. It’s a Tuesday and one of the coldest nights so far this year and here we are dancing and having a great time. You cannot keep New York down.” —Christopher Dilley
mr. Black has had a rough time since re-emerging on the scene over a year ago. Most recently, it hopped from Room Service in the Flatiron District to a new home on the Bowery. But this evening it was announced that the club's Lower East Side location would be going dark. Bargoers had noticed the club was closed last weekend, but no word on its status had been given until now. In an email release, owner Stuart Black wrote:
"2009 has been a chaotic year for mr.Black, a year of impossible challenges, (we have moved twice )and yet a period of successful national growth has happened at the same time.
It is unfortunate that I must announce that here in NYC/Manhattan mr.Black will be taking a break for the unforeseeable future."
