Cyndi Lauper Has a "Hard Candy Christmas"
Her, she’ll be just fine.
Cyndi Lauper has released a sweet new cover of “Hard Candy Christmas,” the holiday classic famously recorded by Dolly Parton for The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas. It’s the best gift since Lauper’s 2004 album Merry Christmas… Have A Nice Life and other holiday tunes. The song will be available at all digital download and streaming outlets on December 11.
“It’s very hopeful,” Lauper tells Rolling Stone. “As you look around New York City, there’s a lot of people really not doing that well. I just thought that it was one of those songs that can give you strength. Somehow even if you freakin’ put up a candy cane and one little Christmas light, it can make you feel better. It’s such a wonderful song.”
And speaking of country legends, Lauper’s next album, Detour, will feature her signature takes on classic country songs primarily from the 50s and 60s.
Suck on “Hard Candy Christmas” below.
