Turn Up the Heat
“If it were up to me, I wouldn’t have chosen any of these people. I hate them all,” Bianca Del Rio says of the “friends” chosen to roast her for her 40th birthday party, proceeds from which will go towards funding her first feature film, Hurricane Bianca. New York icons like Lady Bunny and Michael Musto and Drag Race favorites like Detox will see if America’s Next Drag Superstar can take it as well as she can dish it out. “All jokes aside I do love them, and they’re fucking hateful,” Del Rio adds. “It’s not very often that you get the chance to say something hateful to me to my face, so I can’t wait.”
All of the roasters have inside dirt on the drag queen of comedy, and she is ready for the hate. “Everyone nowadays gets so offended and thinks that everything is real. As long as it’s funny, I don’t give a shit. Nothing really offends me. I don’t think I’ve ever been offended,” she insists. “You know what offends me? Mrs. Duggar’s hair. Everyone now needs to quit worrying about who won Drag Race this season and bitching about who is on the cover of Vanity Fair and they need to go after the real enemy: Mrs. Duggar’s hair dresser.”
LADY BUNNY
“Starting from the top—well, first of all, she’s not a top. And second of all, now that I’ve given you that visual, there’s nothing else I could say that could top that.”
COURTNEY ACT
“Aw, she’s gonna try really, really hard, like she did on Drag Race, but we know she’s not gonna succeed.”
DARIENNE LAKE
“I do love Darienne Lake. I’m looking forward to what she’s gonna say, but because I know where she gets her material from, I’m just gonna scroll online first.”
DETOX
“If she’s coherent that would be interesting, but you don’t know what you’re going to get with her. I hope she can bring it, but if she’s not gonna be funny, at least her face is.”
MIMI IMFURST
“Mimi and I did a roast of Michelle Visage on a cruise and Mimi was actually very funny, and people were shocked by the fact that she was very funny—I think Mimi was shocked that she was very funny.”
LOGAN HARDCORE
“She’s only coming because food is involved. We lived together for a hot minute, so I have to tread lightly, because I don’t know what stories she may bring up!”
MICHAEL MUSTO
“Oh, that vicious, hateful bitch. Listen, no matter what she says to me, she still looks the way she looks and she rides that fucking bike everywhere. I can have her killed. And wasn’t she already fired from The Village Voice?”
TINA BURNER
“Tina is going to be very nice to me, because since Drag Race I haven’t been in New York and she got all of my gigs. I would say something hateful about her, but God’s already taken care of it with her face.”
SHEQUIDA
“Oh her. She’s the Harriet Tubman of the drag world, and without her we wouldn’t have the subway system in New York City. I’m just surprised she could leave her exclusive contract at Hardware to come and do this event.”
